Sources and method

The religious texts in Step by Step Umrah are limited to texts whose source can be shown. The app and this website use the same verified data; a correction made in the app is reflected here automatically.

Qur'anic verses

  • Arabic text: Presidency of Religious Affairs of Türkiye (Diyanet), Kur'an-ı Kerim (Diyanet Mushaf).
  • Translations: Diyanet's Turkish translation, and widely accepted established translations for the other languages.
  • Every verse is cited by surah and verse number (e.g. The Holy Qur'an 2:201).

Duas from hadith

  • Cited by collection and hadith number (e.g. Bukhari 6346; Muslim 2730).
  • Authentic (sahih) and good (hasan) narrations, mainly from the six major collections (Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasa'i, Ibn Majah), are preferred.

Duas of the rites

  • The duas of tawaf, sa'i and ihram are taken from Diyanet's book Hajj and Umrah Duas, with page numbers. They are traditional supplications not tied to a single hadith and are labelled as such.

Asma ul-Husna

  • The listing of the 99 Names follows the narration of Tirmidhi (3507). The hadith "Allah has ninety-nine names; whoever enumerates them will enter Paradise" is in Bukhari and Muslim; the list itself occurs only in Tirmidhi's narration, and many hadith scholars regard it as an insertion by a narrator. Allah's names are not limited to these.
  • Each name is given with a verse in which it occurs; where it does not occur as a name in the Qur'an, its basis (a verbal form or a hadith) is stated.
  • No numerical virtues or "secret properties" are attributed to the names.
